Recover deleted Bookmarks

Moving bookmarks around in Chrome is often tricky and results in accidental deletions. Maybe you just clicked the wrong bookmark to remove. Either way, take a deep breath and be calm. The accident can be erased. However, it is important to correct the issue as quickly as possible. Ideally, you should attempt to restore the deleted bookmark within the next one or two times you start the browser.


Both Chrome and Firefox can restore bookmarks you’ve deleted, but Chrome doesn’t make it easy. Chrome contains a single, hidden bookmark backup file. The backup file can only be restored manually and is frequently overwritten.

FOR CHROME:-

1.Click the Computer icon on your desktop and locate the following folder:      

%homepath%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default

Such Chrome folder contains all of your saved profiles as well as its settings and bookmarks.

2. Locate the Bookmarks.bak file (bak stands for backup).

3. Right-click the Bookmarks.bak file and paste it on your desktop or any other folder of your choice.

4. Now, remove the back extension from the file name.

5.Done! NOW  restart your browser and you have just recovered all your accidentally deleted bookmarks.

FOR FIREFOX:-

1. Open Firefox and bring up the Bookmark Library. Select Show all bookmarks from the bookmark dropdown menu or alternatively press Ctrl+Shift+B.

3.  Here, in the bookmark library, click on the Import and Backup button to open a drop down menu and select the Restore option.

5. You will now see a list of last 10 backup Firefox made when you modified your bookmarks. Select the date prior to the one you deleted the bookmarks accidentally.

7. Firefox will now ask you to for a confirmation. Select OK to successfully restore all your bookmarks to the previous date.

9. All the bookmarks you have added in the meantime will be deleted and the ones you did delete on purpose or by accident will be restored successfully. All the changes will be made instantly and unlike Chrome, you will not even have to restart your browser.
